Suggestions for the Receiving Entity
We recommend the following to the entity that will receive the gift of the print shop:
- Choose a director or manager for the print shop.
- Every worker, especially the leadership, should read the book *Publishing Ministry* by Ellen White. It is an excellent manual to guide the development and functioning of a print shop. Following advice therein will assure success.
- Pray regularly and earnestly for the wisdom that only God can provide.
- Choose a person to manage finances.
- Create a separate bank account. Schedule audits regularly.
- Determine the vision and objectives of the print shop and register them in a document. (See DTM Vision and Objectives document for reference.) Reading *Publishing Ministry* is prerequisite to forming vision and objectives.
- Choose a name for the print shop that will faithfully reflect the vision and objectives.
- Form an editorial committee.
- Form a translation committee.
- DTM provides a basic kit to start the mini print shop. You are free to customize and add to what we have started.
- The director should organize regular training for all the workers, according to the needs.
- During the initial period of evaluation (perhaps the first year), send a monthly report to the director of Desert Tree Ministry. This report should contain a summary of activities including the number of tracts/Bible study sets, booklets printed, and the impressions counter on the printer.
Ideas to Encourage Total Member Involvement
- Designate a Sabbath each month or quarter as literature distribution day. Each member should be encouraged to participate.
- Print tracts that correspond with each subject in an evangelistic series. Each day, after the presentation, distribute the corresponding tract.
- Prepare tracts to distribute during special events in town.
- Encourage each department of the church to plan distribution of tracts.
- Establish an annual literature budget (for free distribution). Perhaps collect funds by church or by district.
- Think of ways members or churches can subscribe to tracts.
- Recommend literature evangelists to always carry and distribute tracts as they work.
- Integrate the publishing ministry in the training of Pathfinders. Each Pathfinder should develop a missionary spirit. Perhaps require one month or more of practical experience, either full time or part-time.
- Encourage small children (at home and at school) to develop the spirit of self-sacrifice. Create an attractive collection box. Children can save 25cfa or 50cfa that they normally would spend on something unnecessary, and invest it in the Lord's work.
- Instore an efficient system of reading our literature (Bible, SOP, tracts) in our schools. Students will become familiar and learn to appreciate it.
